This indicates the roast level, or degree to which the coffee is roasted, using visual, audial and other sense cues in conjunction with technical ones such as temperature and time.
This is an overall index of sweetness, since there are several kinds of sweetness that show up in every cup. There is a very real difference between citrus sweet, like you would find in an orange; and caramel sweet. This catagory does not attempt to break down the kind, just the intensity of the sweetness.
This is the brightness, or lightness found usually in the finish of a coffee. This can be a citrus-like or tart sensation on the tip of your tongue. Also called brightness, it is a highly desirable flavor characteristic. Usually the acidity is best evaluated once the coffee has cooled slightly to a warm/ lukewarm temperature.
This is a particular heaviness on the palate, or mouth-feel. Not unlike the lasting sensation of a stout beer, as compared to an ale. Some common terms used to describe body include rich, creamy, full, thin, watery, light, heavy, and syrupy.
The smell of gases released when water is added to the coffee. Terms used to describe aroma include spicy, wine-like, grassy, musty, earthy, floral, nut-like, or chocolate.
Complex coffee includes the presence of a number of flavors and aromas, more than the one or two that might be evident in more simple coffees. A balanced coffee offers this complex range of flavors, that compliment one another, with no one flavor overpowering the other.
This is the taste sensations left lingering on the tongue and palate after drinking the coffee. It is also somewhat related to the body of the coffee, as coffees with a heavier body will typically leave a longer taste in the mouth. Terms often used to describe aftertaste are spicy, sugary, earthy and charcoal.
Fantastic blueberry and strawberry notes in this classic coffee. Nice round body that just keeps getting sweeter as it cools!
This african varietal is world-renowned for its primal coffee flavor: a medium body, a complex aroma, and a bright citrus sweetness that is accented by a winey finish.

Do you have grape Cheyenne cigars??
It doesn’t get much better in Chapel Hill than Caffè Driade. Lovely venue nestled in the woods, accessible from Franklin Street or the Bolin Creek Greenway. Loose leaf tea, espresso, wine, beer, pastries, etc. all of top quality. If you don’t enjoy Caffè Driade, check your pulse.
MoreCaffe Driade is a special place. My teacher and I met here one day to talk, share life stories. This is her favorite place. I have made caffe driade my first choice now too. The cafe is behind the white art studio, tucked into the forest. This location is also surrounded by walking trails. Dog friendly place too. I love how there is seating indoors, intermediate seating with heaters and seating outside. I love the mocha latte - it comes in a bowl!!! They have tea too, I haven't ventured far from the coffee I like.
MoreOne of the best places I have ever worked!
Perfect place to read a book, do some office work or just hangvwith your peeps or dog. Great coffee and treats!
MoreI adore Caffè Driade! It’s one of my favorite local cafes. Theres a ton of outdoor seating, so it’s a great place to go when the weather is nice. I love all of their tea selections.
MoreAwesome place for coffee treats and free WiFi while sitting out. So glad they made WiFi free
MoreWent my girlfriend got a vanilla latte and a pecan honey bun, both of which she greatly enjoyed. The honey bun had just the right amount of sweetness. I'm not a coffee drinker and prefer tea, they do not make any tea lattes here, the closest you can get is a chai latte, which is disappointing. I like getting London Fogs and other tea lattes.
MoreA cute place with excellent cappuccino (our new go to for coffee)! The hot chocolate is better at Carolina Coffee Shop or Blue Dot Cafe.
MoreOne of my favorite coffee shops in the world. If you're seeking excellent coffee and a nature fix, you won't find another cafe that is quite as special around here. Go.
MoreWhat a pity that I didn't take any cash or card several days ago when I visited this wonderful coffee shop.It has a big yard and people love sitting outside, chatting or reading. On August 1st,I finally tasted their Soy latte, delicious and made me energetic.Recommend it to all the coffee lovers in Triangle.
MoreIf I lived here, I would I be a regular. Such a relaxing, peaceful place. Good coffee and delicious pasties.
MoreTL;DR: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, and the Driade shake is fantastic.Caffè Driade is a great little gem, situated just above Bolin Creek. In warmer months, it is a great place to sit outside and enjoy the view, before or after taking a walk along the creek trail. While they don't have full on meal options, they usually have pastries or other small snacks for all tastes. My personal go-to item on their menu is their Driade shake, a thick milkshake made with espresso shots, they really have the balance down and I have never been disappointed with it.
MoreCafe Driade is one of those hidden gems. The Cafe sits on a forrested hill with seating at all different levels. The cupcakes are divine, as are the coffee drinks. A truly pleasant place to spend some time, rain or shine.
MoreGreat coffee, baked goods, and lovely outdoor area next to the green way.
Great little place. Nice ambiance. Good service. Good selection. A little pricey.
MoreSeek! This treasure is hidden. After finding a parking spot, (they have plenty of parking)I walked around the building closest to the road. That's NOT the coffee shop. You have to walk to the back of the property. Definitely worth the seek and find adventure. I ordered a Dirty Chai Latte and a Pumpkin bar. The Chai is nice and smooth, not really strong or spicy. It's made in house and not from a mix. This is how I prefer my Chai. The Pumpkin bar is amazing! Not overly sweet and compliments the Chai perfectly! I couldn't really taste the espresso in the Chai, however, just makes me want to return to try just the coffee. Stop by today and find the treasure today!
MoreI really enjoyed my mocha latte here! Very sincere and genuine place to spend some peaceful time. I like that it’s kind of secluded also! Oh it’s not Turkish by the way, don’t bring your hopes up 😕, it’s still great though!
MoreGreat atmosphere and friendly staff. Try apple tart.
Excellent coffee, gorgeous outdoor seating. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Good place to get some work done, lots of seating options outdoor. Indoor seating is a bit crammed. Highly recommend, overall.
MoreI meet a friend this morning to chat and catch up. I forgot what a wonderful place this is. We sat outside surrounded by trees. It was just beautiful. It is back on my regular list of places to have coffee.
MoreThey can make nearly anything even off the coffee menu and make it pretty!
Wonderful little place hidden in the woods. Great coffee and selection of teas. There is seating in the back tiered in a few levels and a beautiful trail behind the property
MoreOne of my favorite coffee/wine bars in the RTP area. For close to 20 years. Just a chill atmosphere. With good coffee and lite bites. A truly unique Chapel Chill experience.
MoreThis is a very cozy cafe, and has an excellent tea selection- the best in Chapel Hill! And they use real loose leaf. They also carry great coffee beans as well. I always enjoy coming here
MoreThey have delicious pastries from Guglhupf Bakery. The atmosphere is really cute, especially in their outside area which is closed off with clear plastic windows in winter. You can sit in the forest without being cold. The staff are nice.
MoreWhen will you guys open? I love this place
All good coffee and tea. Interesting staff and great ambiance. My first go to place in Chapel Hill.
MoreOne of my two favorite spots in Chapel Hill. I always go for tea. Their selection is great and is reasonably priced. They give you a water refill for free. Their pastry counter is great (selections from Guglhupf and local creameries). They also have a cigar cabinet and a wine bar, both good. The place is beautiful. There are interesting art installations everywhere. Limited seating indoors (it's anyways packed) but the outdoor seating is better anyway. Great for late night dates, long conversations and morning relaxation.
MoreBest coffee and ambiance in town!
Nice Atmosphere and Quiet Place to Have Coffee
Make good cappuccinos. Cute little shop. Good outside seating.
Lovely little coffee shop in the woods. The outdoor seating can't be beat! WiFi is a little spotty at times, even inside (but you can pay for stronger wifi if needed). They serve Carrboro Roasters coffee and have excellent coffee and tea selection, plus Gugelhupf pastries. Take the back exit for a walking trail through the woods.
MoreVery quaint and they serve BOWLS of latte! Beautiful grounds.
Nice personnel and one of the best coffees I’ve ever had
Love the ambience. Especially the backside space
Cool vibes and place to hang out. Hidden and off the road you feel like you're in the woods and away from it all. Worth a visit.
MoreThis is my favorite coffee shop anywhere. Everything I've had has been amazing every time, but the Driade Shake is especially delicious.
MoreSuch a beautiful outside space. And, the selection is quite extensive.
Favorite coffee shop in the area. Great coffee, good food options and lovely space.
MoreI love that place. I worked there and I met friends there for a cup of coffee. It is cozy and welcoming
MoreI can’t decide whether its sipping lattes from bowls or the ample outdoor seating which descends into a luscious greenway that makes this one of my favourite destination coffee stops. A sweet, round glass case of baked goods, and cozy inside seating options are an added bonus but I’ve only ever stayed inside long enough to receive my order - quite prompt and always accurate - before I tramp down into the woods to sip my warm foam in the shade of a spreading tree.
MoreWe love the location, the ambiance. Coffee is first rate as well. Weather permitting, choose a seat outdoors- they're the best.
MoreThe cafe latte and cafe mocha were very good; expensive but very good.
Such a great little cafe. Excellent latte.
Great atmosphere. Plenty of outdoor seating looking out over the woods, groovy music playing softly inside, delicious coffee.
MoreLove it here! There is an almost magical feel to their outdoor seating area, especially in nice weather. I love taking people from out of town. My mom loves coffee and when she came she said it was the best coffee she's ever had. We had to go back before she left. Prices are high but no higher than the going rate for specialty coffee drinks. They have latte bowls to drink out of with no handles and my mom and I have purchased some from sur la table because of it :)
MoreAwesome patio in the forest, delicious drinks. Really nice place to relax in the shade.
MoreGreat ambiance and love the outside seating surrounded by all the greenery.
An excellent selection of teas; you've got one for every occasion. But it's the beautiful setting, especially outdoors, which makes you feel like you're in the woods in the middle of nowhere, is what makes this place stand out. I had a chance to experience this at night, and it was fun.
